As we reflect on 2025, Spencer Group is proud to celebrate the continued growth of our people-first culture. This year, we were honoured to be recognised with three prestigious awards celebrating our dedication to employee wellbeing and development.
These included Best Place to Work (Large Firm) at the 2025 CN Workforce Awards, the Commitment to Employee Development award at the 2025 G4C Yorkshire & Humber Awards, and Best Place to Work at the 2025 New Civil Engineer Awards.
At Spencer Group, we believe that a supportive, inclusive workplace is the foundation for success, which is why wellbeing and inclusivity are central to everything we do.
With Mental Health First Aiders, our Time to Talk pledge, flexible working, family-friendly initiatives- including ‘bring your dog to work’ days, and benefits such as discounted gym memberships, company cars, and 24/7 GP support, we create an environment where everyone can thrive.

This commitment is reflected in our exceptional long-service figures which show that 25.2% of colleagues have been with us for over 10 years, and 11% for more than 20 years, demonstrating loyalty built on trust and opportunity for growth.
Professional development continues to be a key focus for us at Spencer Group, with our widespread Primavera P6 training equipping teams with essential project planning and delivery skills. We also provide a Personal Development Review (PDR) process and a Future Leaders programme that both help to support career progression for all of our employees.
Included in our PDR sessions are PRINT evaluations, which help our teams understand individual motivators, improve communication, and ensure our employees are placed in roles where they can truly excel.

Our partnership with Ron Dearing UTC also continues to strengthen the future workforce, with 13 new apprentices joining us this year and 65 apprentices joining us since the collaboration began in 2017, demonstrating our long-term commitment to nurturing local, young talent.
Over the past decade, Spencer Group has also raised over £61,000 for charity, supporting causes such as Mind, Teenage Cancer Trust, and this year’s partner, Lighthouse Construction, with our recently established Charity Champions team leading fundraising efforts. As we celebrate this year’s successes and look ahead to a new year, we remain committed to championing diversity and creating a workplace where every individual feels valued, supported, and empowered.
