Each year, we choose an organisation to be our official charity partner. This year, we selected The Lighthouse Construction Charity, the only UK organisation dedicated to supporting the emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families.
Lighthouse provides 24/7 support across the UK and Ireland, offering vital help to those in need.
In an industry where open conversations about mental health and financial pressures can be difficult, supporting a charity that facilitates these conversations is a real source of pride for us at Spencer Group.

A key element of Lighthouse’s work is providing free, accessible resources for workers who may be struggling and are unsure where to turn.
As we head into the run-up to Christmas, often a challenging time mentally, financially, and physically, we recognise how important this support is. With tight deadlines, darker days and increased financial pressures, many people feel the added stress.
To help address this, we’ve delivered mental health training to staff across both our on-site and office teams, giving them the confidence to recognise when someone may be struggling and how to offer meaningful support.

This training has already proved invaluable, particularly on our bridge project sites, where our teams have been able to successfully support members of the public in distress who may otherwise have been at risk.
Our partnership with Lighthouse has provided us with vital insight into how we can better support those facing difficult times, and we are honoured to have helped contributed to their inspiring work.
This year, our charity champions have gone above and beyond, smashing our £10,000 fundraising target. If you’d like to donate to our cause, please donate here.
